Thankful Thursday

This is one of those weeks where I’d rather be venting about the stressy stuff and not looking for things to be grateful for.  But … that’s also part of why I do it, to focus on the good instead of the bad.

1) New CPAP mask arrived from cpap.com.

2) A friend asked to borrow Lessons from the Fat-o-Sphere.

3) Advair (new preventative asthma drug that one apparently has to take a week for it to really start working) seems to be starting to work.

4) The de-stressing effects of a good walk.

5) How stretching my muscles helps the rest of me to relax and de-stress a bit.

  1. I found your blog through a Google search of mine for “can fat people do yoga” (I don’t use question marks in searches ;-P). Anyway, I found your blog right away at the top of the list, and though it wasn’t exactly what I was looking for, it was exactly what I needed. Thank you so much for sharing your life with all of us on here. My confidence in being fat and being healthy and okay grows a little every day, and your blog helped me feel that I can be even more satisfied with my body. Though I applaud exercising just for the fun of it, I would like to exercise to lose weight. I’d like to go on 20 mile hikes again, but mainly I’m just irritated to hell by “chub rub”, and would like to lose enough weight so that my legs no longer rub together. Reading some of the books you recommend will definitely help the morale as I try to lose some of the chub (don’t want to lose all of the chub, definitely good for some things ;-). Have a good weekend, month and year!

    • Welcome! Glad you like the blog.

As an aside, I find that the more I’m walking, the less my thighs rub together (and believe me when I say I have big thighs – pictures are here). It seems strange given that my thighs don’t get smaller, per se, but I think I’m making small, minute adjustments that help.

Of course it could also be related to the fact that when I’m walking more I’m also doing my various leg lifts more, and between the focused strength training and the walking my legs may also be reshaping themselves a bit ;)

      Oh: Bike shorts? Rock.

  2. Sheena Rose, I can tell you (from personal experience and from talking to a lot of women of various sizes on Shapely Prose) that if you’ve got chub run now, you’ll probably have chub rub even if you lose weight. Maybe it will hit in different points, but from what I can tell, it’s a shape thing, not a size thing.
